The Music Therapist
Carolynne O’Neil is an accomplished musician and plays Piano, Accordion, Violin, Guitar, Clarinet, and Sings. She studied Piano at Wilfrid Laurier University and received an Honours Degree in Music Therapy.
In 2001, she completed her 1000 hour internship, became accredited as a music therapist, and established “Resonate Music Therapy Services.” She is a current member of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists, CAMT and the Music Therapy Association of Ontario, MTAO and obtains continuing education credits through music studies and yearly conferences.
Carolynne has over ten years experience working with a variety of client populations, disabilities, and challenges including; Abuse, ADD, ADHD, Angelman Syndrome, Anxiety, Asperger Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Depression, Developmental Delays, Down Syndrome, Low Self Esteem, Parkinson’s Disease, & Strokes.
Through “Resonate Music Therapy Services” Carolynne has created and implemented music therapy programs at schools, group homes, and long term care facilities. She has counseled co-op students seeking career’s in music therapy, has directed plays written and performed by children and older adults, and has worked within a multi-disciplinary team including, therapies (art, play, physio, occupational, and recreation), nursing staff, and families to maximize client potential.
Carolynne develops customized therapy plans for clients, conducts individual and group sessions, provides clinical documentation, and presents at workshops and care-plan meetings.
