Doulas Do Not…

  • Perform clinical tasks (blood pressure, foetal heart checks, vaginal exams, etc.)
  • Provide medical advice nor can they make medical diagnosis.
  • Replace primary care givers such as doctors or midwives.
  • Choose birthing styles or make decisions for clients.
  • Speak to medical staff about their client’s health care decisions.
  • Take away the role of the father or exclude family members.
  • Treat post partum depression.
