Doulas Do Not…
- Perform clinical tasks (blood pressure, foetal heart checks, vaginal exams, etc.)
- Provide medical advice nor can they make medical diagnosis.
- Replace primary care givers such as doctors or midwives.
- Choose birthing styles or make decisions for clients.
- Speak to medical staff about their client’s health care decisions.
- Take away the role of the father or exclude family members.
- Treat post partum depression.
